Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a prescription or referral for physical therapy?

A: No, the state of FL is “Direct Access” so there is no need for a doctor’s prescription for therapy.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: We are not in-network with any insurance.  We are happy to give you a superbill to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement for out-of-network services.

Q: Why aren’t you in-network?

A: We care very much about the quality of care you receive. As an out-of-network provider, we are choosing to free ourselves from the constraints of insurance protocols and limitations in order to ensure an extremely high level of patient care.

Insurance companies don’t look at patient care like we do. At Reed Fitness & Physical Therapy you will work one-on-one with Melissa Reed, a licensed Physical Therapist who cares about you and your goals. You will have her undivided attention for the duration of your treatment. At an in-network clinic, you’ll likely be lined up on a table in an open gym with multiple other patients while one therapist directs all of you at once.

We believe your therapist needs to take the time needed to diagnose the underlying cause of your problem, correct it and make sure you understand how to be your own advocate when you’re not in treatment. That takes individual attention with a skilled therapist.

Q: Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?

A: YES!

Q: How long will my evaluation or treatment take?

A: Your initial evaluation will take as long as we feel we need to fully assess your entire injury and movement patterns. Typically up to an hour. After that Melissa will let you know how long to expect typical treatment sessions.

Q: But I’m not injured, why should I come see you?

A: Our passion and expertise is in human movement.  We believe you would like to improve your fitness, strength, and endurance.  By taking a look at how you move, we are able to help you fix muscle imbalances and mobility issues which will keep you injury free and help you continue to make progress towards your goals.  Think of Reed Fitness & Physical Therapy as your routine musculoskeletal check up. You go and see the dentist every 6 months for a check up don’t you? Why not treat your body in the same preventative manner?!
